Chelsea transfer news: Blues will move for Lille sensation Nicolas Pepe should Eden Hazard leave

Chelsea are reportedly set to rival Arsenal and Manchester United for Lille star Nicolas Pepe if Eden Hazard leaves the club.

Telefoot claims the Ivory Coast winger will leave the Ligue 1 outfit in the summer after two seasons with the club.

Pepe, 23, has been in stunning form this season – netting 19 goals and adding a further 11 assists in 32 league matches – and interest is hotting up in the forward.

Only Kylian Mbappe has scored more Ligue 1 goals than Pepe (27) this term – and Chelsea have now emerged as another contender for his signature as they prepare for life without Eden Hazard in the Premier League.

Hazard, who scored 36 goals for Lille from 2007-2012, will reportedly refuse to sign a new contract even if Chelsea play hardball with Real Madrid to get them to pay the desired fee of £100million.

The Blues may eventually have to accept a reduced bid for Hazard or risk losing him for free next season – potentially even to a Premier League rival, if they continue to reject the interest from the Spanish capital.

Pepe could be the ideal replacement for the Belgian, but Chelsea deal-makers will have to fend off interest from Arsenal, Man United and Bayern to sign him.

Last month, Manchester United and Arsenal were told by Lille president Gerard Lopez they will have to pay €80million (£68.7m) if they want to sign the forward in the summer.

While German champions Bayern have also shown strong interest in the winger.

Lille president Gerard Lopez confirmed Pepe will leave in the summer, saying: â€Å“It is sure he will leave. He enters a price range that can no longer be paid.

“There is a career choice to make, I think he will have the choice.”
