Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has suggested he could look to leave the club to ‘take the next step’ of his career.
The midfielder, who joined the Gunners in a £35million deal from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2016, appears to have bigger plans for his future.
Modern players have a tendency to say too much during the international break, and Switzerland star Xhaka appeared all too happy to talk when quizzed about his future.
When asked about his Arsenal career, Xhaka told Swiss outlet Tagblatt: “I’m very ambitious, I want to take the next step.
“Arsenal does not have to be the last stop.”
Xhaka has been a regular starter under Arsenal manager Unai Emery, playing 32 times so far this season.
He scored the opening goal in the Gunners’ 2-0 win over Manchester United earlier this month to strengthen their hold on the top four.

Emery’s men are three points clear of fifth-placed United with eight games to go.
Xhaka, who signed a new Arsenal deal last summer, may well be hinting that he could look to end his three-year spell with the north London club if they fail to secure Champions League football for a third successive season.
The 26-year-old has made 126 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 11 goals.
